Creating and Editing Pages
Starting from version 0.46, Publii CMS includes a feature for creating pages, which serve as static subpages on your website. The process for creating and editing pages is almost identical to that of posts, so you'll feel right at home! You can choose any editor you like, whether the versatile Block Editor, the powerful Markdown Editor, or the user-friendly WYSIWYG Editor, to add your content to the page.
Editing Pages
When editing a page, in addition to the standard options available for post editing, you have a crucial option, the 'Parent page' dropdown menu in the right sidebar. This menu allows you to designate whether a page will be a parent or child of another page. By selecting any existing page as the parent for the current page, you can create a hierarchical structure for your site, which helps organize complex navigation systems.
Managing Page Hierarchy
A new feature available in the Pages listing is the EDIT HIERARCHY button, located on the right side of the screen, opposite the filter options. After clicking this button, a Move button will appear under each item on the list. Clicking the Move button will display options that allow you to reposition the page in the hierarchy:
- Before - Place the page before another item.
- After - Place the page after another item.
- As subpage - Make the page a subpage (child) of another item.
These options allow you to easily manage the hierarchy of your pages, enabling you to create more complex and organized navigation structures for your website.
Summary
In summary, creating and editing pages in Publii CMS is very similar to working with posts, making the process intuitive and consistent. The key difference lies in the ability to manage page hierarchy, which allows you to build more complex and organized navigation structures on your website.
